Privacy policy
Last updated October 9, 2026.
DNSLint is a free tool from Mediadrive, Inc. There are no accounts or sign-ups, and we don't set cookies. This page explains what little we do collect and why.
Domains you check
When you check a domain, we query its public DNS and its nameservers. The domain is part of the results URL, so it appears in our server logs. The check results are cached for five minutes so that repeat visits don't query the domain again.
DNS records are public. Don't check a domain if its name alone is something you need to keep private.
AI summaries
When the AI summary is turned on, we send the domain and its check results to OpenRouter, which passes them to an AI model provider to write the summary. We don't send your IP address or anything else about you. Summaries are cached for 24 hours.
Server logs and rate limits
Like most websites, our servers log each request: your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser's user agent and the time. We use these logs to keep the site running and to find abuse. We also count requests per IP address to rate-limit the site, and those counters reset within an hour.
Analytics
We count page views with GoatCounter. It doesn't use cookies or track you across sites, and we only see totals such as page views, referrers, browsers and countries.
Error reports
When the site hits an error, details about the failed request are sent to Sentry so we can fix it.
MCP server
The /mcp endpoint is handled the same way as the website: the domains it checks and the IP address of the caller are logged and rate-limited as described above.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent any data.
- We don't use advertising trackers.
- We don't build profiles of visitors.
